Minaxi will donate all revenue from sales of their debut album to those in the music community impacted by COVID-19

It’s no secret we’re fans of Minaxi’s music—we’ve debuted the videos for both “Stargazer” and “Ishq”—and we’re also big fans of the people behind the band. Their debut album Khwab dropped last Friday, and the group has announced that all revenue from bandcamp sales of the record will go to those in the community who have been affected in various ways by the COVID-19 pandemic. Below is what Minaxi’s Shrenik Ganatra had to say about the decision.
Our debut album began streaming on Friday, March 13, 2020. We just put up a Deluxe Version on bandcamp with two bonus tracks and two beautifully designed posters. While we were planning the release campaign a few months ago, we hadn’t anticipated that the release would coincide with the COVID-19 pandemic. We were instead working towards release shows, listening parties and social gatherings. Even though all such activities are out of the equation for now, we still encourage you to listen to our music on streaming channels, watch our music videos on YouTube and buy the album on bandcamp. We love the support!
As a band invested in the local community, we have had the pleasure of getting to know several amazing local bands, artists, collaborators, writers, etc. We have decided to donate all of our bandcamp revenue from the sales of Khwab to those impacted by COVID-19 until we as a community figure this one out. While this appears to be a smart promotional strategy (which, on the surface, we agree it is!), the underlying intent stems from caring. We care about our friends who’ve had to shut down their small businesses temporarily, those who’ve lost their shifts, those who’ve been let go from their workplaces, those who’ve had to cancel their shows, those who’re having trouble feeding themselves and obtaining supplies.
We’ll use the revenue for a range of acts that include treating a friend in need to coffee/dinner, supporting the local artists’ work, tipping our baristas a little extra, donating to COVID-19 relief funds, etc. We have been fortunate enough to receive support for our music from the community via platforms like Bands do BK and international press like Rolling Stone (India). We feel it’s time that we return the favour.
To those who’ve supported our music, thank you! Please don’t ever stop. To those who’re new to our world, welcome.
We are Minaxi.

Khwab is the debut studio album by the alternative rock band Minaxi. The sound on the album combines elements from psychedelia, shoegazing, hard rock, dream pop and sufi. Khwab draws on the themes of love, loss, freedom, faith, home, self-respect, rage, beauty, angst, nostalgia, fate, laughter, courage and dreams. With a combination of melodies, wall-of-guitar feedback, ethereal textures and lyrics penned in English and Hindi, the album is intended to carry the listener through a sonic dream that flows from one end of the spectrum to another. The deluxe version of Khwab includes two bonus tracks—”Hey” and “New Gazer” (Stargazer Demo).
