DIY gets the MTV treatment with a new video from Probably True Productions

“About You,” the second song on QWAM‘s 2025 album afraid of blood, is about a complicated kind of love. Or rather, about going all-in on loving a complicated person (which, spoiler alert, is all of us).
“I think the song is about being so deeply in love with someone that you accept all pieces of them, even the pieces you know could hurt you,” says singer Felicia Lobo. “That love is accepting the messy parts that come with it. I’ll always choose the potential for pain because it’s worth it to me.”
That said, the new music video for the track (premiering here and now!) is less about romantic love and more representative of a bond between bandmates, perfectly capturing the magic of being in a band—not just on stage but behind the scenes.
QWAM was birthed in a Bushwick basement 10 years ago, a subterranean project that sprouted legs and emerged to run around Brooklyn and tear up stages across the city.
This music video represents the familiarity and friendship of a band that’s been around for a decade. Rather than launch into a (possibly illicit) performance, the video kicks off with the joyful commute upstate—a journey that include cameras and card games, smoke breaks and steering-wheel drumming… the irresistible act that is chunkin’ a big ol’ rock in the river. A series of silly van antics before the band scurries into a warehouse to begin the serious main event.
When the show pops off, the band’s rock-star energy is revealed, DIY taking an MTV turn with shots showcasing the serious talent and style of the musicians, plus a chemistry that transitions seamlessly from backseat to center stage.
Collectively, the video captures two sides of the band experience. It’s hard for me to decide which part looks like more fun.
As for the making of the video, this is the second time the directors have set images to this particular QWAM song, which they had previously used to soundtrack a film of their own. As the band explains of their experience working with the creators:
“We formed a relationship over the past couple of years with directors Evan Metzold and Jake Rubin. They put ‘About You’ in their film Damned If You Do and really connected with the song. We had an incredible experience collaborating with them on this. They understood the tension between the anthemic joy of the song and the ominous underbelly.”
QWAM is celebrating the video TOMORROW NIGHT with a show at Gutter Bar featuring Leathered, Gal Fieri and Flat Waves (a band outta Philly).

Grab your tickets, grab your friends and get ye to the show!
Maybe pull over and toss some rocks in the river on the way.
