WANTED: MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST

———————————————————————————————

WHO: Mary Shelley

SEEKING: “We’re looking for a multi-instrumentalist who’s proficient at both electric guitar and bass who can also sing backing vocals. And if you can play more instruments than that’s great too! As a band we sometimes rotate instruments and like the different sounds we can get from switching off and having different members play different instruments. We’re looking for someone who enjoys jamming in an improvisational way in rehearsal, as many of our songs have been written this way.”

ABOUT THE PROJECT: “Mary Shelley started as an authentic 70’s punk revival but has quickly progressed to incorporate elements of dance/disco beats, shoegaze, and hip-hop, while under the guise of that classic messy three-piece punk sound. Mary Shelley is a highly collaborative group that isn’t afraid to push genre aside in the name of following their creative impulse. They sound like The Clash went to a Devo dance party and Jack White threw up all over the dancefloor.”

DETAILS: “We’ve released two singles with two more on the way, and we’re about to release our debut album in January / February. But we’re very keen to get to putting together some new music. We try to play about a show a month around Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens. And on average we rehearse a couple times a week. If you’d like to get a vibe for how we sound live we have a single release show at Econo Lodge on December 11th. Some of the bands / artists we’re into are IDLES, The White Stripes, LCD Soundsystem, DEVO, Squid, The Clash, Patti Smith, The Damned, A Tribe Called Quest, Joy Division, The Talking Heads, Nirvana, The Pixies, The Stooges, Beastie Boys, The Misfits, Viagra Boys, The Ramones, Courtney Barnett, and Parquet Courts.”
