FRESH OFF THE RELEASE OF THEIR DEBUT EP, THE BAND SHARES THEIR TOP 10(ISH) BROOKLYN SPOTS
Best of Brooklyn is our newest profile format, and we’re super pumped to feature the raddest//daddest group of dudes, who just dropped their debut EP Dad Time. We provided the prompts, and My Son the Doctor provided their recs.
We’re a broken record here, but Hart Bar is such an underrated venue in Bushwick. We were playing it monthly before COVID and want nothing more than to pack their basement again. Shoutout to Dares, Pinkie Promise, Henry Black, and many others we’ve played with there.
Boobie Trap has been a long-time fave – John lucked out and once saw the bartender (owner?) chop off a guy’s man bun with a pair of hedge clippers in exchange for a free bottle of Georgi Vodka.
Ines Deli Grocery is next to John’s old apartment, so a lot of our practice recordings are named “Ines Deli Grocery 24”, “Ines Deli Grocery 30” until we give them names. There will be a song that’s just called “Ines Deli Grocery” at some point, but we haven’t written one good enough yet.
Matt and Brian are on the record that OMG Pizza is the best slice in the tri-state area and it’s a hill they are willing to die on.
Ever since Little Skips in Bushwick closed we are still looking for a place with the right combination of overpriced lattes and mesh.
Go to Lex and 59th for the signature hot mustard smell, stay for the sexually frustrated Hunter College students. (Matt recently graduated from Hunter and we’re really proud of him and his fading scent of French’s Yellow.)
There’s this little spot on Stanhope and Wyckoff called CM Coffee and the move is a bacon egg and cheese with hash browns and avocado.
Green-wood Cemetery = best park in NYC
Los Hermanos is the best taco spot in NYC, or at the very least is the taqueria with the highest concentration of mesh. We love mesh.
Rough Trade holds a special place in our hearts as a shop and venue. We still haven’t calmed down from seeing THICK live there in January (and GYMSHORTS opened!)
The largest cup of coffee and the nearest Indian buffet.
+ ARTISTS’ CHOICE. ANYTHING ELSE YOU LOVE?
Punjabi Deli is a favorite joint in Manhattan and has huge plates of Indian Food for $3. They are having some hard times right now but hoping they pull through -> https://www.gofundme.com/f/save-new-york039s-beloved-punjabi-deli
