In coordination with the release of her custom tarot deck, tarra thiessen transforms into a six-legged spiritual influencer (+ pulls a card for 2026)

For anyone who’s ever swatted a fly, smashed a spider or crunched a cockroach, BAD NEWS. Bugs have feelings too. Plus, who knows, maybe they could’ve read your cards.

With no more explanation than that, I’m thrilled to give you the PREMIERE of the new music video for “I Am a Bug” by Tea Eater!

I was crawlin around your basement / looked at you and asked what are your placements

This video (by Emily Hughston) is yet another illustration of the creativity, musical imagination and unique brand of humor that infuses everything Tarra creates. Tea Eater serves up zany punk songs surrounding hyper-specific obsessions, featuring lyrics about little dogs, dairy products and the DMV… Jack Nicholson, evil twins and ET (versus Jesus)… plus, in the case above, six-legged spiritual influencers.

Which brings us (because Tarra is the kind of artist whose creativity can’t be contained to a mere one medium) to the second Tea Eater release, dropped in alignment with the music video: the limited-edition, hand-drawn Tea Eater tarot deck!

The deck (available on Bandcamp in color and black and white) features Tarra’s favorite things—bandmates! butter! unconventional (and caffeinated) percussion!—while building upon the Tea Eater universe explored and expanded upon in her sophomore album.

Tarra says:

“Earlier this year we released Tea Eater’s second album I Don’t Believe in Bad Luck, which dives into themes of transformation, magic, shadow work, and the humor in the mundanity of every day life. Since I’ve been obsessed with and reading tarot cards since middle school sleepovers I decided to make a Tea Eater deck adapted to the Tea Eater universe to release with the record.

Over the past year I designed and drew 79 cards based on our songs with suits that include waffles, butter, bugs, and tea. It’s a deck that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but is still packed with symbols from the traditional tarot and can be used as a tool for manifestation, shadow work, and laughing with friends over a few glasses of wine.”

While (tragically) we aren’t all at a sleepover or (sadly) sitting around the same table sippin’ chardonnay, Tarra did do some tele-tarot and provided us with a special Bands do BK reading for 2026:
